Rwanda and Tanzania’s ICT Ministers discuss on improving Communications infrastructures

On 16th July 2021 the Rwanda’s Minister of Information Communication Technology and Innovation Hon. Paula Ingabire paid a courtesy call to her counterpart, the Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Tanzania, Hon. Faustine Ndugulile for a one-day working visit.

In  his address to the Press after the  Tanzania and Rwanda Communications Ministers’  bilateral relations discussion, Tanzanian Minister Dr. Faustine Ndugulile said as a Hub of Communications Services for East and Central Africa, Tanzania and Rwanda have agreed to collaborate on improvement of communications infrastructures in order to deliver quality and reliable communications services.

He noted that Tanzania is currently providing communications infrastructures to its seven neighboring countries including Rwanda.
Dr. Ndugulile also noted that Rwanda and Tanzania will collaborate on human resource capacity building and exchange programs for the technical experts that will complement the long cherished bilateral relations between the two countries.  

He furthermore listed other areas of bilateral relations and partnership such as coordination on improvement of FM and TV Frequency Spectrum Planning, preparation. 
He noted that the government of Tanzania has set Sh45billion to be spent on improving communications infrastructure at  the country’s borders regions which will also cover mobile phones and Radio technology. 

During the visit, the delegation visited various ICT facilities and services that are also serving the Republic of Rwanda, in particular connectivity to submarine cables
The Minister Paula Ingabire thanked Tanzania for the cordial welcome noting that the two countries are determined to build a reliable digital economy that would accelerate development in the two countries. 

She added that ICT sector has cross-cutting benefits to people from all walks of life and to almost all sectors countrywide , contributing to improved living standards of people with sustainable development countries concerned.
She also noted that “ we want our private sectors to be able to build partnerships whether it’s for the established companies or startup companies than can join and  collaborate together so that the challenges in health care that can be solved through digital solution in Tanzania can also be solved in Rwanda.

He also noted that we want to make sure our children have better learning experience through technology.
