On 3rd June 2021, the President of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan has received a message from the President of Rwanda Hon. Paul Kagame presented by the Special Envoy and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Vincent Biruta.

Minister Dr. Vincent Biruta presented a special message from H.E President Paul Kagame, expressing his condolences following the untimely demise of the late President John Magufuli. 

President Paul Kagame also congratulated H.E President Samia Suluhu Hassan for being sworn in as Tanzania’s President. 

President Paul Kagame’s message also expressed that Rwanda is ready to strengthen more its relations and cooperation with Tanzania specifically on the strategic projects including  Rusumo Energy Project, Standard Gauge Railway which will connect Kigali and Isaka Tanzania and foster transportation of goods from Dar es Salaam port to Rwanda.

H.E President Samia Suluhu Hassan thanked H.E President Paul Kagame for sending that message which comprised Condolences and Congratulation respectively and assured him that Tanzania is ready to sustain  its relations and cooperation with Rwanda.

Concerning implementation of the joint projects, President Samia Suluhu Hassan urged the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) to meet and pushes forward the projects implementation as well as indicating new areas of cooperation which has mutual benefits between the two parts.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan also insisted the JPC should work on strengthening the transportation of fish fillets from Mwanza through RwandAir  and also speed up the construction of the Isaka Dry Port
